After the original mass of the Sikhote-Alin meteorite hit the atmosphere, it exploded with such intense force that the sound and flash of light was seen for over 200mi in every direction. The flash was so bright that it actually overpowered the sun’s light. This explosion ripped pieces of the rock apart which look exactly like the image you would imagine a piece of exploded iron would look like, twisted and rippled with indentations. Other pieces were indented on one side and smooth on the other which possibly indicate being torn from its origin upon impact and throw far from where it hit the earth.
