On May 24th of 2014 a group of 4 experienced meteorite hunters camped near Sbayta, Morroco and searched for meteorites the following day. After an unpromising find of a 1467g buried rock without any sort of fusion crust, they carried on their search. Later finding several identical pieces within a few meters of the first stone, the four of them sent a sample to UWS who soon confirmed the piece as a shergottite. Other meteorite hunters had visited the site during June and July and had found additional pieces; one 560g stone and an additional 124g which was purchase by Steve Arnold in Oct, 2014.

The largest portion was coated by a pale brown clay but the small area that was exposed displayed a dark coloring with many phenocrysts visible. Both stones have a very mottled brown/tan appearance with larger dark phenocrysts. All specimens found have heavy weathering which is several millimeters thick due to being launched into space by an asteroid impact on its planet of origin, the red planet.
