Found in June, 1967 by geologist F.A. Mednikov during a geological survey, the meteorite was hardly seen lying amongst other stones. The smalled of the two original specimens was found at a distance of about 20 meters from the first one by I.H. Markov with a mine detector in October of the same year. The main mass was turning into the Academy of Sciences of the USSR and both are now displayed in Museums. A relatively large number of other related pieces have been found since the original finding and while some consist solely of solid metal, others display the olivine crystals that pallasites are so known for. The slices sold here are the pieces with a more prominent gems.
